They must know whether they have a strong poker hand, such as a royal flush, straight, or three of a kind. They must also consider the strength of the other players’ hands and whether they have any chance to beat them.
It is important to pay attention to the other players’ actions, especially their body language and betting patterns. Many poker reads come from subtle physical tells, such as scratching an itch, or even how the player places and moves their chips around.
